Review: 'SEA KINGS, THE'
'Bible John (single)'

-  Label: 'Iffy Folk Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '28th July 2014'-  Catalogue No: 'IFR006'

Our Rating:
It's impossible to listen to this single with thinking of Morrissey but The Sea Kings are not just another band of Smiths copycats. Neither are they an acoustic trio from Cornwall who happen to trade under the same name. There's nothing remotely pastoral about this Glaswegian foursome.

This single has dark words about self harm and self doubt in which quoting from the bible isn't about to save souls. The video shows a priest with blood quite literally on his hands.

This excellent song appears on the band's debut platter - It Woke In The Devil's Arms which has already been favourably reviewed here at W&H. Not on the album is the extended 'disco' version on what in days gone by would have been the B-side.

Bible John (I'm only dancing) is a mega-remix with full on mirrorball effect where lyrics have been cut and pasted and the whole song transformed into a veritable club anthem.

You should be dancing!
