Review: 'Golden Diskó Ship'
'Invisible Bonfire'

-  Album: 'Invisible Bonfire' -  Label: 'Spezialmaterial Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '25th November 2014'

Our Rating:
Thunderous tribal beats fade in and out through washes of synth and delicately wafting guitars picked and plucked while light harmonies skip through the rarefied air. Elsewhere, rustic folk (think more Earth than Mumford & Sons) with mystical tones flow organically. Spaced-out space-age doodles and bleeps float in woozy sonic vortices and dubbed-out disco beats thump away while drowning in a sea of sonic derangement.

Yes, this is some pretty far-out stuff. Drawing on elements of Krautrock and Björkean pop amidst a vast range of disparate reference points, Golden Diskó Ship sculpt some oddball shapes and plain weird soundscapes to create something that’s discernibly different. It’s also rather good, steering the more broad-minded listener through unfamiliar territory while retaining a strong sense of melody throughout the strangely atmospheric journey.
