Review: 'Rathborne'
'Why'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '16th February 2015'

Our Rating:
What have we got here? ‘An infectious slice of NYC garage rock’, apparently. It arrives courtesy of  Rathborne, a band centred on songwriter Luke Rathborne. He is, I’m told, already ‘blowin’ up in Brookyln and the other New York boroughs’, while receiving kudos, thumbs up and all the rest from names like Devendra Banhart, and media including SPIN, Zane Lowe and Lauren Laverne.

Culled from the band’s debut album ‘Soft’, which was co-produced by The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jnr, ‘Why’ is choppy and urgent. Unpretentious and catchy, it favours energy over slickness, simplicity over complexity, and plugs directly into the central nervous system. By which I mean it makes you want to jump around like a daft thing. Good, guitar-driven fun.
