Our Rating:
Finally this show actually happened as it had been put off since October and had a change of venue along the way as Jettblack's new album took a bit longer to finish recording than they hoped for, still it meant we didn't have to think about what to do on Valentines night even though there were a couple of other gigs that were tempting.

We arrived just as LTNT went on the band's name actually has upwards arrows where I have put T's and is pronounced Loo tenant in case you were wondering and they are a pretty decent Biker rock band with a twist or two most of the songs had pretty huge great riffs around which they spun off a little bit and the final number had a Funky Metal Faith No More type feel to it, they were pretty decent and a good opening act.

Next on were Sons Of Icarus who posed the question during the first song Why Do You Do This? And I have to say I wanted to ask them that question as I why do all of your songs sound the same, why do you look like you've come from Alt rock central casting and do you have any original ideas between you? If I was still in my early 20’s and had never seen bands do this sort of stuff a thousand times better they may have hooked me in but as it was after the stupendous Bad Luck Valentine show the night before they were truly forgettable and don't make me want to find out more about them.

Yes they play sort of heavy and hard rock with semi screamed vocals and some jumping around, they were tight but none of the songs stuck in my head for more than 20 seconds after they had finished playing them.

After the break it was time For Jettblack to return with the lights dimmed and the lights flashing and Thunder noises and then from off stage Jon Dow's guitar rang out the opening notes of Raining Rock as they came on stage and slowly launched into a monster version of Raining Rock that really got the Underworld going and sounding every bit as tight as usual. Shout It out is what I have down as being next and it had a bit of a slow start to it but was great.

Tom announced they were going to play an oldie before they did one of the songs I think they have played almost every time I've seen them over the years Fooled By A Rose with its lines about being a Queen To My King it always goes down a treat and this was no exception. Love Has Taken Control was blistering and Will played a blinding little solo on it. The Slaves then blasted through us before they pleased everyone with a great sing along version of Slip It On.

Something About This Girl had some great interplay between Jon and Will before they played a blinding version of Black Gold that had a real wide screen feel to it. They then played a new song that might have been Broken Bones but it sounded pretty much like a typical Jettblack tune and I look forward to hearing the new album when it comes out in April.

Get Your Hands Dirty always gets a great reaction and this was no exception with pretty much everyone singing along to the chorus. They closed with another new one and that I have down as Live You which I'm sure is wrong but it was a cool finish to a good set.
They came back for the encore and to thank us all for showing up on Valentines night before we got a good version of Sweet and Brave and they closed with current single Explode and it pretty much did explode over us a good end and they will be worth seeing on tour this year.
