They describe their eponymous debut as ‘a collaboration resulting in an international spin on Americana’. It’s a fitting description, given that Light Over There members Aileen Henderson and Rex Haberman hail from Galway, Ireland and Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA) respectively.
The result is an EP comprising five tracks that combine the strongest elements of folk rock and Americana. Leaning toward the uptempo, the slide guitar swaying gently in the distance, there are hints of Fleetwood Mac at their most country.
Dumfries-born Henderson was raised on The Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley and the richness and confidence of her vocal belies her 18 years, while the compositions clearly benefit from Haberman’s wealth of experience.

Lead track ‘Where Memories Live’ is a considerate song about dementia, a cause they’re clearly passionate about, and where the duo really excel is in their capacity to address heavy subject matter without being gauche or preachy, flippant or mushy. ‘She Cries to You’ is a straight-up rock song, and the songs demonstrate a diversity without suggesting a lack of identity.
