Review: 'MZ. 412'
'Hekatomb'

-  Album: 'Hekatomb' -  Label: 'Cold Spring Records'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '9th March 2015'

Our Rating:
Pitched as ‘black industrial’, MZ .412 (essentially the project of Henrik Nordvargr Björkk) have been carving a deep subterranean furrow for some 23 years. ‘Hekatomb’ documents their performance at The Garage, London, in March 2011, the first occasion they managed to bring the full live lineup together.

The band forewarn that ‘This satanic, blackened ritual from the creators of Black Industrial will evolve from memory, to history, and into legend.’ While this is perhaps a little unlikely, this release certainly is impressive, and conveys the sonic element of what must have been one hell of a show. It sounds like it must have been excruciatingly loud, thumping beats and distorted, demonic vocals emerging from a wall of murky noise and feedback harsh enough to devastate the hardiest of eardrums.

It’s certainly dark and it’s definitely nasty, hinting at a crossover that lands somewhere between early Bathory and Prurient. You have been warned!
