Review: 'OTHER PEOPLE'
'Black Swans EP'

-  Label: 'Feeder Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '28th March 2015'

Our Rating:
Other People, a.k.a Jakob Lindhagen, is a film music composer based in Stockholm, Sweden so, not surprisingly, 'cinematic' is the most obvious adjective to describe his work.

This release opens with the one all new tune, a spooky experimental track written for distorted toy piano called In The Walls.

The other four tunes are reworks of tracks from Other People's album Somewhere Far Away building tastefully yet radically upon the minimalist piano melodies of the originals.

Organ Tree gives us a bass heavy techno-trance version of Still Worth A Lot To Someone while Waxwood embellishes Sleepless with luminous electro brush strokes.

Most interesting of all are the two remixes of The Ventriloquist. Ryansaurus includes pulsing drum beats but keeps this as a delicate instrumental leaving Noemi Bolojan Rework to make the bolder move of adding a female voice who sings dreamily "Have you ever wondered, have you ever thought of the beauty of life".

The EP makes a fine companion piece to Lindhagen's original album. It remains cinematic but will make you think of different movies.
