Ok, so it’s a mathy post-rock effort. But if you think you’ve heard it all before, then it’s worth pausing for a moment or two before dismissing this one. Yes, all of the standard ingredients are there: chiming guitars, mellow breaks, noodly guitar lines and strolling bass, the quiet / loud dynamics and big crescendos... but when they really cut loose, Dialects come on like That Fucking Tank playing math-rock.
Elsewhere, choppy riffs are overlayed with howling lead guitar, and the EP reaches a suitable finale with the appropriately-titled ‘Spectacular Supernovae.’ Dig crescendos? These guys deliver, and then some.
