Review: 'Lulic, Antonio'
'Son EP'

-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '12th April 2015'

Our Rating:
Antonio Lulic’s been doing ok for himself of late, touring Europe, Australia, South America and the USA, as well as touring the UK as Ed Sheeran’s support act and selling out headline shows in NYC.

His third offering, new EP Son is inspired by his global travels as a solo performer. As such, he draws on a range of cultural influences, no more readily apparent than in the sunny, carnivalesque vibe of ‘Beckoning Drum’. Credit to him, he hasn’t lost sight of his Northereastern roots, evident in his vocal delivery. ‘The City of Austin, Texas’ is a simple and sincere meditation on travel and homesickness with a country / Americana feel, and the reflective, almost hesitant, ‘Drunk & Lonely’ shows that it’s not all hijinks and adventure meeting new people out on the road, and moreover, that he's not always the ideal person.

Lulic may not be breaking new ground here, but he rocks out more than your regular chin-stroking singer-songwriter type and the quality of his material shines through.
