Review: 'Beach Slang'
'Broken Thrills'

-  Album: 'Broken Thrills' -  Label: 'Big Scary Monsters'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '27th April 2015'

Our Rating:
Not heard of Beach Slang? You can be forgiven seeing as their first two EPs, ‘Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street’ and ‘Who Would Ever Want Something So Broken?’ have only been released in the US. ‘Broken Thrills’, the first UK release puts those EPs together and provides an opportunity to get up to speed.

The eight tracks ‘Broken Thrills’ comprises are uptempo, thrashabout guitar-driven indie rock tunes of a distinctly 90s vintage. A collision of punk energy and vintage alt-rock, Beach Slang do plaintive vocals and big overdrive and evoke the spirit of ‘You’re Living All Over Me’ era Dnosaur Jr, especially on ‘Dirty Cigarettes’ where a tumultuous guitar crashing against a lively rhythm section.
