Our Rating:
When this arrived and I saw the band name and the cover artwork I assumed it was going to be a Japanese techno band, how wrong can you be as it's actually an Alt-Rock/metal band from Sunderland.
The opener Bloodlines sounds like they are trying to fuse Muse to Billy Talent and throw in a touch or two of Biffy Clyro it works the quiet loud dynamics quite well and Neil Anthony's vocals sound pretty decent.

Silhouettes is a heavier riffier tune that sets vocals that at times waver and remind me a bit of Volbeat before it mellows out a bit and sounds like the quiet bits of System Of A Down. Run & Hide is the sort of Modern rock metal that I do indeed run and hide from it's like they want to make a watered down rock song its main redeeming factor is the weird guitar break in the middle of it when the vocals aren't there to annoy me.

The Song About Ghosts has the sort of title that presumes the listener doesn't already own 100 plus songs about ghosts, well this is not a very spooky ghost song at all and is more hoping to be stadium metal of the sort that might open for the Foo Fighters, it's ok as long as you don't think a song about ghosts should sound spooky or scary as this doesn't.

The EP ends with House Of Mirrors that is a chunky slice of Muse meets the heavier end of Ash it has a nice riff and sounds like it would work on a dancefloor of a rock club. The Ep is not bad just nothing particularly original, if you like decent modern Alt-Rock/metal then you may well like Masamune and want to find out more at www.facebook.com/masamunemu
