Pitched as ‘a beautiful collection of powerful and darkly funny songs’, this four-tracker from Paperface arrives as a preface to a debut album due later in the year. Nostalgia drips from the delicately orchestral numbers, with opener ‘Amsterdam’ a reflective tourist’s guide to the city. ‘Passer By’ is a slice of 60s-style pop, and while closer ‘Holy Water’ has a sweeping sound courtesy of the full orchestration, the sharp lyrical angle is lost in the Phil Spector style production.
