As the title suggests, the pieces are but sketches: fragments in the region of one and a half to two minutes apiece. Culled from a collection of looped samples Leichtmann had accumulated on tape over many years, the album originally appeared (appropriately) as a limited cassette.
The album feels like a notebook, an asemblage of ideas for mood pieces, emerging, but not fully formed. Glitchy, irregular-cut loops and rhythmic discconnections dominate the form. Precisely what it says of youth today is unclear, although it’s perhaps largely unimportant.
