Review: 'Sweat Lodge'
'Talismana'

-  Album: 'Talismana' -  Label: 'Ripple Music'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '7th August 2015'

Our Rating:
Described as ‘one of America’s most exciting and downright badass psychedelic metal bands’, the magnificently-monikered Sweat Lodge have been building up quite a head of steam ahead of their debut album.

‘Tramplifier’ swaggers in all guns blazing, a thunderous slab of old-school heads-down rock riffology. Harking back to the 70s in a big way, heavy hints of Zep and Sabbath are woven into the fabric of their chunky, tube-crunching rock sound. ‘Slow Burn’ is anything but slow and features a standout guitar break in its fast and furious mid-section, and ‘Phoenix Ascent’ cranks up the amps and the psychedelia for a high-octane blues-based thrash-boogie.

While the guitars are wild, Sweat Lodge wouldn’t be anything without a stonking rhythm section, and a tightly-knit pairing of powerhouse percussion and strolling bass grooves hold everything together.

‘Talismania’ is a rare thing in 2015 – a rock album of the kind they used to make, played with guts and serious balls. Rock solid and then some.
