Review: 'RESONANT ROGUES, THE'
'Here & Gone Again'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '24th July 2015'

Our Rating:
This album draws from traditional American blues and folk with added slices of Gypsy jazz and Balkan music. The feel of the 12 tracks is more quaintly old-fashioned than quirkily old-timey.

It is the work of a band founded by 'Sparrow' and Keith J. Smith (songwriters & sweethearts) who take turns on lead vocals and share the harmonies.

The release coincides with the two year anniversary of the group and was recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in the band’s home base of Asheville, North Carolina.

Instrumental backing comes from accordion, guitar, fiddle, upright bass, and banjo, with special appearances by Je Widenhouse on trumpet and Matt Smith on pedal steel guitar.

There is plenty of swing but not enough swagger so this is the musical equivalent of safe sex in the missionary position i.e. pleasant enough but short on thrills.
