Review: 'RAINTOWN'
'Writing On The Wall'

-  Label: 'BMB Records UK'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '9th October 2015'

Our Rating:
Glasgow-based husband and wife duo Paul and Claire McArthur-Bain take turns on lead vocals and harmonise efficiently on their second album of easy-listening country-pop tunes funded by Pledge Music.

The couple exude a niceness that strays into sentimentality and settle for soulless production values that accentuate the blandness of the tunes.

Platitudes about love and devotion ("until the end of time") are vacuous substitutes for real feelings.

The lack of ambition and blue sky thinking is relentless."No matter what happens the sun's gonna shine", is the inaccurate claim on the irritatingly upbeat It's A Beautiful Life. Ok, I get that it's a metaphor but a pretty tired one.

By the end I found myself praying for more rainfall in Raintown to bring things back to the real world.
