The first three instrumentals on this four-track debut EP tunes have a restrained elegance that exudes confidence and precision.
The Brighton all male five piece include a trumpeter and pianist so, while there are strong elements of math rock ("electronic wandering), the tracks also function as smooth, late-nite jazz. It's a bit too busy for a total chill out space but fairly loungey just the same.
The title tune comes in two formats, a cool non-vocal version and one featuring soaring, sassy vocals from Beth Cannon which takes the EP to an altogether more soulful and sexier place.
This is a band I expect to hear more of and hopefully they will decide to employ more guest vocalists to add warmth to their technically proficient yet occasionally detached sound.
