Review: 'Holst, Anders / Mads Emil Nielsen'
'Anders Holst / Mads Emil Nielsen'

-  Album: 'Anders Holst / Mads Emil Nielsen' -  Label: 'Clang'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '29th January 2016'-  Catalogue No: 'clang 016'

Our Rating:
Spinning drones and thumping clanks, fizzed and echo-heavy clumps, hovering, ethereal undulations, clicks, pops and endless echo build a deeply atmospheric listening experience, resonant and far-reaching.

The album explores a range of different instruments, the chiming guitar work on ‘Star Rider’ running against flickering electronic sounds that forge non-percussive rhythms, while the droning motorcycle engine hum of ‘Radiant/Quadrantid’ builds a dense low-end wasteland of sound, juxstaposed against teetering dribbles of electronic and a soft sonic breeze, finally breaking into a storm-force sonic hurricane.

Picked notes – guitar or bass – land heavy in the rarefied air on ‘Three Steps Around the Room’, while ‘Jitter/Bug’ bubbles and groans in the murk of a sonic swamp of unknown depth.
