Review: 'Flaming June'
'In Pursuit of Happiness'

-  Album: 'EP' -  Label: 'Independent'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: 'December 1st 2015'

Our Rating:
A female folk song writer who has already pulled together a reputation for forthrightness, honesty and feistiness, Louise Eatock has released her 8th EP under artist name Flaming June. Titled ‘In Pursuit of Happiness’, the release is a compelling look at life and love for women in the 21st century.

Whether in opener (and statement of intent) ‘In Pursuit of Happiness’ or in the wariness of ‘Freedom’s Fairytale for Girls’, you get the feeling that Eatock is torn between wanting to be cautious about finding love, and wanting to let go and experience that freedom of uncontrolled new opportunities. It leads to an expressive, confusing, conflicting and ultimately excellent listen as Eatock wavers in her sentiment – changing sides as regularly as many of us do in every day life.

The website, www.flamingjune.co.uk, has all the info on the EP and previous releases. Also well worth a look, particularly 2011 EP ‘Nerves of Steel’ which bagged Flaming June a FETEA award for best EP.
