This singer songwriter from Los Angeles plays the blues but doesn't give the impression that he truly feels them.
What's lacking is any personality behind the songs so although the tunes are slickly played, they come over as exercises in style rather than expressions of emotion.
The respectful but insipid version of Willie Dixon's My Babe is a case in point.
I'm "too good to die, too young to sleep", the singer announces on Curious and dreams of getting away from it all on Wouldn't That Be Nice.
He also declares that having Nothing Left To Give is empowering but there's little sense of abandon or risk to draw the listener into this album.
