This heavy slab of hard-boiled greebo rock from a Bedford-based quartet is tailor-made for dimly-lit bars, mean streets and sweaty clubs.
In serving up this "electrified soup for the soul" the band wear their serious faces. This pose is occasionally undermined by some duff lyrics such as on the title track with the unwittingly Monty Pythonesque warning to "beware of the fall out on a comfy chair". (Oh no! Not the comfy chair!!).
Mostly, however, Lee Vernon's grizzled vocals sound suitably dark and menacing while Simon Rinaldo's organ parts give hints of riffs plundered from classic Deep Purple or Doors albums.

Vernon's moody voice closely resembles that of Mark Lanegan although for the final two cuts (Loverman and Into The Blue) the singer treats us to his best Jim Morrison impersonation.
Not, as you will gather, the most original of works but the band breathe enough life into the songs to make them more than just another bunch of retro copycats.
