With the Go-Betweens, Robert Forster forged an enduring reputation as a musical craftsman and a purveyor of classic janglesome indie pop. Lifted from the album ‘Songs to Play’, released last autumn, ‘Love is Where It Is’ shows he’s lost none of his talent. It’s a nice, dappled-shade summer tune.
For some inexplicable reason – not the obvious bap-bap-ba backing vocals, in other words – I’m reminded of ‘Horse With No Name’ by America. Anyway, it’s got a nice mellow groove and an easy-going melody, and is eminently hummable.
