Review: 'TYRANNAMEN'
'Tyrannamen'

-  Label: 'Statik Shock'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '23rd September 2016'

Our Rating:
Tyrannamen are a five piece from Melbourne with members from Twerps and Whipper. They came together as neighbours and in 2010 the full lineup was complete.

It was only ever intended to be a live band but Cool Death Records stepped in and insisted on a limited pressing which sold out instantly. You could call it garage rock and they wear their influences on their collectively grubby sleeves.

Alex Chilton, Royal Headache and The Moondogs are all present and correct and I would add French Chateau Stones to that list as well. The album is just 23 minutes long and that merely increases the odds of them having creating the 'almost' perfect rock record.

What stands out most of all is that these are all great songs. Scrape away the grime and they are also extremely catchy. They are great coats that hang on their respective hooks. My own personal faves are 'I Can't Read Your Mind', 'Ice Age', 'I Don't Want To Go To Jail' and 'Diamond Ring' but next week it could easily be the other four songs that make up this album.

Signing up with Static Shock in the UK is a great move as far as I'm concerned because if nothing else it looks like they will be hitting our shores early next year. Get this now, learn all the songs and stand in line.
