Jemh Circs is an alias of Back to Comm’s Marc Richter, and this eponymous album is the first release on the Cellule label, set up by Richter to release BTC/related music and ‘a few select retrospective reissues’.
Jemh Circs is a rather odd project, formed primarily using voice samples lifted from YouTube videos of contemporary pop tracks and the occasional avant-garde curio. It’s essentially a loop mashup type of effort, but the sounds are swirled, whirled and whipped lightly and delicately into a soft sonic froth of a most ethereal nature. It’s certainly weird, and in places, contrives to be strangely wonderful.
