This curious record comes out of Atlanta, Georgia but where you locate it on the sonic world map is anybody's guess.
It features ten pithy post-punk songs in which the ornate, jangly math rock of Ben Jackson and Alex Bailey on guitars are distinctly at odds with the grating goblin-like voice of Elaine Edenfield.
The disorientating impression is often that she is singing to the wrong backing track. One song is very aptly titled Simultaneous Contrasts with lyrics that include the accurate observation: "You and I, We come from separate worlds").
Some listeners will doubtless find Edenfield's voice raw and Joplin-esque but I just found it devoid of emotion and unlovable.
The 90 second coda on Modifier Analog came as a relief and made me wish for more instrumental breaks.
