Review: 'LEOPOLD AND HIS FICTION'
'Darling Destroyer'

-  Label: 'ILA/Native Fiction'
-  Genre: 'Blues' -  Release Date: '27th January 2017'

Our Rating:
Approaching fatherhood for the first time, Daniel James Leopold from Austin, Texas says "these songs come from a place of fear and vulnerability".

They aren't cosy family tunes but instead betray his Detroit roots by being steeped in the former motor city's trademark sound of raw, gritty blues combined with garage punk.

Scraggy, bleached blonde and tattooed, Leopold has the right rock star credentials. His band's fourth album has a strident sense of purpose even though it covers fairly familiar territory as evidenced by the cover of If You Gotta Go, Go Now.

Jack White does this kind of thing better but this is not an exclusive club and there's always room for more members.
