Review: 'Moore, Tony'
'Perfect and Beautiful'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '12th May 2017'

Our Rating:
Confession time: Cutting Crew’s ‘(I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight’ is one of my favourite chart singles of the mid 80s. That might not sound like much, but given just how much music from that period – chart and otherwise – that’s integral to my existence, it actually is.

So here we are 31 years on and keyboardist Tony Moore – who started out as a member of Iron Maiden before that – is embarking on a solo career with the release of the single ‘Perfect and Beautiful’ (which Wikipedia suggests was actually recorded, along with a full album of the same title, way back in 2005).

One thing that’s not in question is that Moore has spent a large proportion of his time in recent years focusing his energies on club management. Similarly, few would likely dispute that the piano-led ‘Perfect and Beautiful’ is a love song with a sense of grand scale and heavy hints of 80s rock acts like Chicago, REO Speedwagon, and ‘E.S.P’ era Bee Gees. Whether you’d call the style ‘classic’ or ‘dated’ is a matter of taste.
