Review: 'Ooberfuse'
'Greater Love'

-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '9th June 2017'

Our Rating:
Last year’s ‘Secret Tattoo’ provided the first taste of Ooberfuse’s third album, ‘The Odd Ones’. The pureness of its poppiness was clear, but it did seem to lack substance, and the serious subject matter of follow-up ‘On My Knees’ was diluted by the synthy execution reminiscent of Depeche Mode circa 1981.

‘Greater Love’ finds the Christian synth duo going for the slower, heart-rending ballad, serious and spiritual. The promo video – which is magnificently shot and milks the poignancy of the setting sun – finds Hal St John looking moody and deep with his hoodie’s hood up, and Cherrie Anderson absent from the set. None of it really amounts to much, and what the flimsy fluff songs lack in substance, at least they’re entertaining and catchy: this is neither.
