Our Rating:
Keith Seatman is a singular musician and DJ from Hampshire who describes himself as "an owner of some synths, records and all manner of old tat and always a tad lost".

His 5th album is a strange but curiously engaging collection of ghostly electronica combined with discrete nods towards weird folk.

Only two tracks -Mr Metronome and Boxes With Rhythms In -could be described as 'proper' songs. Both these feature vocals and surrealistic lyrics from North Devon singer songwriter Douglas E Powell.

The other nine pieces are drone/noise artifacts that might have been plundered from the dusty archives of BBC's Radiophonic Workshop.

Analogue synthesizers serve to create a retro quality so it's no surprise to learn that the record is available from the Ghost Box Records Shop as well as being downloadable from Bandcamp.

Titles like A Lighthouse Might Look Long and Odd In A Nightcap And Cup give a flavour of the level of eccentricity.

Experimental works like these often explore dark, sinister territories but ,as the album title suggests, here there's an underlying air of playfulness and fun. This is highlighted in the video game sound effects of Skipping Rope and With Salt And Candy, built around a recording of a child reciting a playground rhyming song.

It goes to reinforce the notion that if this record were a fun-fair ride it would be a merry-go-round rather than roller coaster.
