Review: 'HASLINGER, PAUL'
'Halt And Catch Fire OST'

-  Label: 'Fire Soundtracks / Lakeshore Records'
-  Genre: 'Soundtrack' -  Release Date: '30th June 2017'

Our Rating:
I'm at a loss as to who might buy this soundtrack album.

You'd have to be an obsessive fan of the American TV series about the rise of the PC/ High Tech revolution to want to add this to your collection. The music here is drawn from the first three seasons.

The majority of the 23 tracks last little more than two minutes with only It Speaks and Security Is A Myth being more than fragments. This means that when a promising piece like First Day On The Job cuts out after just one minute it's hard not to feel frustrated. This experience is repeated time after time.

I'm quite sure that the Austrian-born, former Tangerine Dream musician's synth-based score works perfectly well in the context of the drama but as a home listening experience it leaves a lot to be desired.
