Review: 'ESKIES, THE'
'And Don't Spare The Horses'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '1st December 2017'

Our Rating:
The idea of "foot stomping gypsy folk" , however much the band claims to ride like the wind, does very little to enthuse me. This is what's in store for listeners of the sophomore release by this rough'n'ready Dublin quintet.

They are all male but are no one's idea of a boy band. They specialise in music to get drunk to with a strong emphasis on black humour and rowdy choruses.

As a result, even songs about emotionally charged topics like the horrors of war (Death To The Sentry), lost love (Hail, Hail) or Shame are seemingly not intended to be taken too seriously.

All this might count as good fun if you're half-pissed but is otherwise pretty droll.
