Review: 'MATT BIANCO'
'Gravity'

-  Label: 'Membran'
-  Genre: 'Soul' -  Release Date: '15th September 2017'

Our Rating:
Matt Bianco is not a man but a group. They were founded in 1983.

They are named after an imaginary 007 style super-spy and their sound is defined by the "dry Martini voice" (shaken not stirred?) of Mark Reilly.

Reilly also co-wrote the ten original songs, led by the single Joyride, with saxophonists Magnus Lindgren and Dave O’Higgins.

It was recorded live in Stockholm, London and in Reilly’s own studio in Buckinghamshire.

He has assembled an "all-star jazz band" featuring members of Jamie Cullum’s touring group. Elisabeth Troy adds backing vocals.

This is their 13th album so their brand of very laid-back Latin-based soulful jazz must warm some hearts but personally their slick and self consciously 'cool' sound leaves me stone cold.
