‘Cascades’ continues the series of singles by London’s Lydian Collective ahead of the March release of their debut album. According to the blurb, ‘the new track moves in a jazz direction, allowing the band to flex their instrumental muscles and explore the outer reaches of their signature harmonies – while the winning melodies of the first two singles re-appear.’
Their last effort was more than jazzy enough, and the winning melody of ‘Cascades’ sounds like an amalgamation of ‘Take 5’ and the theme from ‘Taxi’. Only jazzier. And really, how much jazz do you need?
