Review: 'EDWYN, JAMES & THE BORROWED BAND'
'High Fences'

-  Label: 'Dead Records Collective'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '15th December 2017'

Our Rating:
Glasgow sextet's second album is a ten track collection of melodic Americana-based roots rock.

All songs were written by singer and guitarist Edwyn. His soulful Ryan Adams style delivery is complimented by Emma Joyce on harmony vocals.

The dull as dishwater cover does the group no favours but theirs is a well-drilled, albeit somewhat conventional, sound.

Stand out tracks are Pushing Statues, Burning Man and Edwyn's solo spot Never In A While.

Not a particularly thrilling record in my view but the consistency of the material should ensure that the band retain and quite possibly build upon their local fan base.
