Review: 'Crooked Teeth'
'Mountain Song'

-  Label: 'Lost in the Manor'
-  Genre: 'Indie'

Our Rating:
Crooked Teeth came pitched as ‘blend of old school Underworld mixed with Doves and a bit Chemical Brothers’. On the strength of this outing, you could comfortably throw in references to Kraftwerk and Stereolab, with a dash of Toy and Ride on the side. The duo, who coalesced in Glasgow before relocating to London, certainly mine a seam of rippling electronica propelled by a classically motoric beat on ‘Mountain Song’.

Dreamy? Oh yes. The soft, supple, warm analogue modulations are a major factor, but the laid-back, reverby vocals and easy melodies are also up there. Infectious? Most certainly. The hooks aren’t in-your-face or overplayed, but they’re very much present and arguably all the more effective for their delicacy.
