Illusion & Doubt primarily comprises hyperactive bluegrass tunes from a small bunch of Canadian wannabe outlaws and pseudo hillbillies
“A lot of our inspiration comes from an old school feel, but our sound is an amalgamation of the music we all like, and the punk influence is definitely there.” says vocalist/guitarist Nate Hilts.
Hilts' gravelly vocals give the tracks a rough and ready feel for these 12 songs which are described as a " more mature take on lovin’, cheatin’, killin’ and drinkin’.
It's all designed to dance to for the sheer hell of it and to laugh in the face of doom and despondency.
Scott Pringle (mandolin, vocals), Eliza Mary Doyle (banjo) and Danny Kenyon (cello) provide spirited backing. It may not subtle but it's lively, effective and good-hearted.

Only the plaintive Massacre Of El Kuroke poops the party spirit while the long lyrical, string-laden closing tune, Gunslinger's Glory shows that they are more that just a drunken party band.
This album first came out in 2016 and its wider re-release to coincide with another batch of live shows where, I'm guessing, these songs are best consumed
