Swiss hardcore mob Cancel are pitches as delivering a ‘Converge-in-a-glass-fight-with-Killswitch-Engage assault’. Their second album certainly has some attack. It’s straight down the line metalcore delivered hard and with little room for pleasantries in the tight compositions. When they take it down, it’s not for a light, melodic interlude, but to build tension before hammering in twice as hard on the return.
The first cut, ‘Mind Burial’ is savage and sets the tone nicely. The vocals are raw and the guitars dirty. The production puts everything up front and doesn’t pretty things up. This is an album that pounds and grinds, thunders and roars. And it doesn’t let up.
