Review: 'Lords Of Acid'
'Pretty In Kink'

-  Label: 'Metropolis Records'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '18th May 2018'

Our Rating:
The late 80s and early 90s witnessed the explosion of the technoindustrial genre, and debuting in 1988, Lords of Acid emerged near the forefront. From the outset, they made sex and sleaze their trademark, and ‘Pretty in Kink’ shows no deviation from that trademark style. Although, of course, it’s all about deviation. ‘Pretty in Kink’ assimilates all the elements you’d expect: gritty, overdriven but ultimately rather processed-sounding guitars, pumping, thumping dance beats, and driving synthy basslines. That does mean, that while they’re pitching it as an ‘electro-industrial-techno classic,’ it’s kinda very much of its type.

Still, of their revolving-door personnel, new singer Marieke Bresseleers brings a new slant to the Lords’ sound. By turns exotic, seductive, and brutal, she’s got all angles covered and delivered with a ferocity that’s becoming of the band.
