Review: 'Panic Island'
'Kiss America'

-  Genre: 'Rock'

Our Rating:
A lot’s happened in the 3 years since Panic Island’s previous EP, ‘Cabin Fever’: Brexit and Trump for a start. It feels like a different world. And ‘Love Island’ had yet to be (re)launched, so wasn’t the phenomena it is now. Personally, the concept of Panic Island is definitely more my scene, and altogether more relatable and generally up my alley – so to speak.

The accompanying video is, apparently, by James Ray, although whether it’s the James Ray or The Performance / Gangwar / 25 Men infamy, I’m not sure. Probably not. No matter: on the strength of the footage, Panic Island are even more entertaining live than recorded.

‘Kiss America’ is a kick-ass tune and well-suited to a single release – but pay attention, because with a running time of a minute and 49 seconds, it’s over as soon as its started, packing in a superabundance of exhilarating energy and driving guitars. It’s all delivered with a fuckload of attitude and a crackling urgency that’s beyond infectious. Sling in a killer hook, and you’ve got everything you could possibly need.
