Review: 'Beauty in Chaos'
'20th Century Boy (feat. Al Jourgensen)'

-  Label: '33.3 Music Collective'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '30th November 2018'

Our Rating:
Al Jourgensen seems pretty stoked to have been involved with Beauty in Chaos, a project ‘curated’ by guitarist Michael Ciravolo with a colossal cast of guests for their debut album, ‘Finding Beauty in Chaos’. He effusively describes the project as “a tribute to both community and family and what I think is lacking in the music industry these days”, and gushes how it’s “an honor to be a part of this great line up!”

Industrial veteran Al is also ebullient about the track he’s contributed to, saying ‘at 60, I never thought I’d be singing ‘I’m your Boy, I’m your fucking Toy’, but maybe all the AARP discounts are helping me stay young.”

I expect he’s not the only one who never thought he’d be singing ‘I’m your Boy, I’m your fucking Toy’ at 60 either. And as an artist who’s given us some pretty strong covers, ranging from Revolting Cocks’ ball-busting rendition of ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ to Ministry’s pretty kicking version of Magazine’s ‘The Light Pours Out of Me’ via 1,000 Homo DJ’s take on ‘Supernaut’, this feels… pretty average. Basically, it sounds like an Al Jurgenson side-project covering T. Rex. The song’s been done to death already and this, sadly, brings nothing new. Still, as long as he’s enjoying himself, eh?
