Review: 'ELKJER, MARCUS'
'Scenes (EP)'

-  Label: 'The Bank Music'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '15th February 2019'

Our Rating:
London based Dane, Marcus Elkjer, is not the kind to get stressed over song titles. His debut solo release of short piano compositions features six tracks which are all called Scenes. To tell them apart they are helpfully numbered from one to six.

After having worked with other artists as a songwriter, composer and arranger he's decided to go it alone. This 17 minute long EP shows that neo-classical music is his true love.

Elkjer has already composed music for TV and film and describes this record as "a sonic journey into my subconscious" adding that "the songs encapsulate different scenes of a movie that has never been made but only exists in my mind".

Despite the brevity of these pieces it's evident that there's plenty of drama lurking beneath the pretty facades. Elkjer has entered a competitive field but makers of Scandinavian noir series would be well advised to give him a listen.
