Robin Trower is a British guitar legend who cut his teeth in The Paramounts before moving on to work with Procol Harum. This is a straight-ahead blues album following a rich vein of form that started with "Something's About To Change" (2014).
For me it's all about his guitar 'tone' which has often been compared to Hendrix, I guess it must be those glowing valves in his Marshall amp?
Robin handles all the instruments save for the drums on this album so it is very much his album. His vocals have an earthiness and grit that compliment the guitar perfectly and the bass lines are solid but supple.
"Diving Bell" opens and it is Robin's personal favourite followed by "Truth Or Lies" which has an early R&B flavour to it. The titular track is a cracker that nods to The Beatles "Come Together" but really digs the blues out of it. "Ghosts" takes it even further back and down to look at a past when you didn't do right. Simple blues.

"Tide Of Confusion" licks like Jimi as does "Lonesome Road" a song about touring. "Little Girl Blue" shows a lightness of touch and genuine mastery and "Don't Ever Change" is a soulful track that would be nice to hear in the tonsils of say, Gary Brooker. There won't be many better blues albums this year.
