Review: 'TELLAVISION'
'Add Land'

-  Label: 'Bureau B'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '12th April 2019'

Our Rating:
Something a bit different from Bureau B this one in that it is a vocal-led modernist pop album albeit with a distinctly European vibe.

Melodically it does remind me of Prince, or perhaps that should read Wendy & Lisa but then on a track like "Projector Running" the influence of Kraftwerk is to the fore. "A Living Tale" illustrates the positivity inherent in this album. A song about opening up to the world.

"The Dead Sea", alternately, could be a modern day Siouxsie. "Hat Makers" describes the courage of making a new start and "Salty Man" balances this via discussion of those among us who resist opening up.

Often the arrangements are quite minimal with basic looped and layered percussion and synth 'sounds' combining but there is always something interesting going on, usually provided by the vocals. These themselves are a combination of clear, upfront singing and more spoken counterpoints as in "Siri". This is forward thinking, forward facing pop music.
