Apparently, ‘Brooklyn-based five-piece The Rad Trads are known for their eclectic take on rock n’ roll, which mixes punk rock energy, horn drenched soul and precise musicianship, with a lighthearted but sincere delivery.’
What that essentially translates as is indie-ska. And no-one needs that. The title track s pitched as ‘a humorous commentary on global warming in which the protagonist asks an honest question of their summer fling — as balmy temperatures continue into the fall, should we continue this summer romance as well?’ and I’m looking for the punchline here. We’ve moved beyond postmodern irony here, and laughing at fools and hipsters has gone beyond tired in certain settings. This is one of them.
‘The Good Stuff’ is next-level annoying, though, with its smooth sunny summer stoner groove. I’m not wanting to piss on anyone’s parade or spliff, but I’m just not on the market for mellow vibes. Credit where it’s due, ‘Let’s Go walking in the Moonlight’ captures a 60s soul style with a

In contrast, buoyant closer ‘Spanish Radio’ is a straight-up thrusting indie rock tune that takes its cues as much from Bruce Springsteen as anyone else.
Technically, and in terms of production – courtesy of Chris Peck – it’s solid. Stylistically and song-wise, it’s got broad appeal, but that’s not a good sign.
