Our Rating:
After Smoke Clears describe them self as being a London based Tech/ Groove Metal 4 piece, Deterioration is the bands 4th single this year off of forthcoming album Edification. As my download of this came with all 4 songs I'm treating this as an Ep, but you can download whatever your tech addiction will allow. This is not the sort of metal I spend much time listening too, so makes a change for sure.

The EP opens with Beta To Gamma a bowel crushing riffing blast beat to the extreme metal ear crusher with reasonably discernible lyrics in the growled and screamed vocals and when the bass really hits in halfway through you feel the thudding in your knees.

Deterioration is growled at us over crushing riffs and more melodic than expected keyboards with interesting musical interludes as this attempt to crush your brain, it's heavy dense and with careful listening the lyrics aren't that difficult to work out.

Machine Dependant is a brutal crushing look at how addicted we all are to our devices grabbing for our phones as they destroy your ears under the crushing bass and drums assault.

The Vine seamlessly carries on the bludgeon your ears into submission heaviosity and pummel your brains drumming as they ram home the despair they are feeling. As we all seek to add and take what we need for the vine, this has a thrashy death metal feel to it.
