Our Rating:
It's been quite a while since I last reviewed Anton Barbeau and as ever he's well worth checking out as a great restless outsider indie artist from Sacramento who is currently based in Berlin, this single is off of his forthcoming double album Manbird. I first heard Anton many years ago at The 12 Bar Club and in the years since he's put out 30 odd albums and toured loads building a cult following and adoration for his outsider indie music.

Manbird is a very cool slice of power pop indie that's every bit as catchy as you might expect from Anton it isn't as freaky as I remember him being but that's no bad thing as this will worm its way into your ears just as easily as that bird eats the worm itself this has a great keyboard line that goes throughout it.

The B-side The Art Of Beaking is gentle art pop with surreal and cool lyrics about all sorts of artistic practise and how to take the piss and be serious while beaking, I love the restrained almost background keyboards as he makes a few interesting jibes, as ever with Anton Barbeau he will always draw you into his own little world of musical and lyrical wonder.
