Review: 'Wolf, Anna and Pop Morrison'
'The Unfamiliar'

-  Genre: 'Soundtrack' -  Release Date: '21st August 2020'

Our Rating:
Released this month, ‘The Unfamiliar’ is an independent horror film set in the UK and Hawaii, directed by Henk Pretorius and produced by Llewelynn Greeff and Barend Kruger, and starring Jemima West.

Anna Wolf is an award-winning singer-songwriter, and Pop Morrison is perhaps better known as Jamie Morrison, and currently drums with The Stereophonics, and they’ve paired up to record the theme tune.

It’s hushed, atmospheric, and evocative, haunting but not horrific, as Wolf whispers and drifts her way breathily around a subtle tune that’s sparse and vaporous and softly strummed.

In context of the movie, which relies on tension and atmosphere rather than gore or moments of shock that make you jump out of your seat, it works, and also makes sense. As a standalone song, it’s quietly captivating, but lacks that essential elements that makes it memorable.
