Review: 'Soft Set'
'Love And Dancing'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '4.9.20.'

Our Rating:
This is the debut Ep from Soft Set from Toronto. The EP was mixed by Mark Gardener from Ride in his OX4 Studio's and is perfect for anyone who likes fey wistful almost wallflower indie pop.

This opens with 7 On Up which may be some sort of Canadian slang or just a cool title for this pretty gentle and somewhat bucolic opener that draws you into the romantic world of Soft Set who seem to be making music for young lovers and older lovers to share together.

That's followed by the gently fey indie strum of the recent single Never Die that feels like a gentle caress with whisper sung vocals this is perfect to stare into the one you loves eyes too in a very Lilac Time or Prefab Sprout kind of way.

Let You In is a song of re-assurance that he will in fact let you in, no you won't be left out like a cake in the rain or locked out in the cold, no even if you've upset him he will still Let You In, no matter what state you're in, as he truly loves you. This is a rather cool and effective gentle love song.

Ours For Us is a gently insistent indie almost shoegaze song of love and a little bit of lust with lovely harmonies to draw you in.

December that closes the Ep feels like it's perfect for cuddling up on a sofa beneath a blanket with the one you love and letting the music envelop you with as much love as you have for your lover, as they sing about the candle light you need to listen to this song that feels like early Belle & Sebastian with hints of Clem Snide or in the string arrangement a bit of Nick Drake.
