Review: 'FAITHLESS TOWN'
'The Light Volume 1 (EP)'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '29th April 2022'

Our Rating:
Faithless Town are based in Atlanta, Georgia. Their debut Kickfunder funded album, American Refugee (2012) was followed by ‘Empires’ on Spectra Records in 2020.

This seven-track EP is the first part of a new, two-part album both of which will be released in 2022. It demonstrates their mastery of melodic soft-rock with snappy songs written from an outward-looking rebellious perspective.

Coal Mining Man shows that they have a social conscience and an empathy towards the lost livelihoods of the working classes. Live Free argues against the herd instinct and advocates having the courage to think for oneself.

The lyrics to the closing track, Do Not Comply, are even more hard-hitting (e.g. “They want to own your body ……You’re just a commodity”) but the delivery lacks real venom.

The songs are technically accomplished but show that raging against the machine needs more than rehashed mainstream dynamics.
