Our Rating:
I managed to miss 1000 Robota first time round when they were one of the hype bands of the Noughties, during this time they managed to have Peaches Geldof OD in a toilet on smack, be rushed to hospital before they had even gone on, at a prestigious London gig. They put out two albums before the trio of childhood friends Sebastian Muxfeldt, Jonas Hinnerkort and Anton Speilmann went off and did other things they are now back with the bands third album.

The album opens with Binich a sort of German synth pop with a drum and bass edge to the percussion and vocals that get ever more desperate sounding.

The main single from the album Gift is next and has an industrial doom pop feel to it, with the vocals chattering away as the music goes from dense industrial to quiet introspection.

Popkorn feels more upbeat, dancefloor orientated than the Gift does, it also has a good guitar break before the keyboards come back in and the vocals go a bit falsetto.

Schma introduces some neo-classical strings and feels rather contemplative as it gets sparser. Ende brings the doomy keyboards to the fore with lots of cowbell and quite deadpan vocals.

Erde Heben does it's best to dig its way to victory and has some bird sounds that come in against the synths and drums.

Blume Rucksack makes me wonder what is in that rucksack, and if my understanding of German was better than it is, I might know the answer to that question, from the sound of the music it's not packed with explosives or anything nasty.

De Ar Mensch is a tune that makes me think of both my grandmothers, who often told us kids that we should be Mensch's, while they would have liked the flute part, the shuffling percussion might have foxed them a bit, a cool tune no doubt.

Finde Mich has them contemplating how to find themselves as the bassline slowly continues and hopefully, they know who they want to be now.

The album closes with Statur Im Flur that's a slow thoughtful and rather pretty end to this rather engaging comeback album.
